Concord, N.H. - Tonight, Democrat Kris Schultz won the special election for the open state representative seat in Concord Ward 9. Schultz defeated Republican Michael Feeley 284-82 (78% to 22%). Representative-elect Schultz will replace former representative Andrew deTreville, who resigned his seat in February. Former Representative deTreville won the 2016 Ward 9 election 56% to 44%. New Hampshire House Democratic Leader Steve Shurtleff issued the following statement: "We are thrilled to have such a great champion for health care and education joining our caucus to fight for Democratic values in Concord. Congratulations to Kris Schultz, who will be another welcome addition to the New Hampshire House." NHDP Chair Ray Buckley issued the following statement: "Congratulations to Kris Schultz on a great victory. Not only will Representative-elect Schultz be a great public servant, she also adds to a growing list of Democratic victories in New Hampshire this year. The energy and enthusiasm of Democratic activism across the state have delivered two special election wins in as many months and Democrats should be encouraged to continue working hard in the coming months."
