Sununu Slams Potential GOP Senate Candidate Wendy Long

For the second time in just a few weeks, Chris Sununu went after potential GOP Senate candidate Wendy Long, slamming her as someone who “nobody really knows” after he called her “a carpetbagger from New York” last month.

This is the latest sign that Wendy Long’s potential candidacy, which is being pushed by Team Trump, is ruffling feathers in the New Hampshire Republican Party. Sununu’s visceral reaction to the possibility of Long getting into the NH GOP Senate primary previews the potential civil war that Long’s candidacy could ignite if she runs — and wins Trump’s endorsement.

Adam Sexton: “Let's hit on some political topics before we wrap up. You decided not to run for U.S. Senate, but you did kind of wade into that recently, you had some comments about Wendy Long who was the U.S. Senate nominee for the Republicans in New York state a couple of times. You know, you’ve said some things that made it sound like if she gets into the U.S. Senate race in New Hampshire she might not be your favorite candidate.”

Chris Sununu: “I don’t even know who she is. I don’t think anyone in the state knows who she is. I just know that she’s an individual that ran for the Senate a couple of times in New York, she doesn’t really live here, nobody really knows her, so to come in with a couple of months and try to introduce yourself to you now, raise a bunch of money and try to buy your way into a U.S. Senate race, this is New Hampshire, that’s just not going to fly.”
