2024 New Hampshire Delegate Selection Plan

Filing is now open for Party Leader/Elected Official, At-Large, and Committee Members

New Hampshire’s delegation to the Democratic National Convention includes thirty-two delegates and two alternates. Fifteen delegates have been selected at the district level following a pre-primary caucus that was held on Saturday, January 6th 2024. Three party leader delegates, six (6) at-large delegates, and two (2) alternates will be elected at a meeting of the New Hampshire delegation on April 27th, 2024. Additionally, New Hampshire has nine automatic delegates, including the NHDP Chair, Vice Chair, DNC members, and New Hampshire’s federal delegation. The Delegate Selection Plan also outlines goals to include representation from New Hampshire’s growing diverse communities, and plans on how to educate Granite Staters on how to become a delegate.

Party Leader, Elected Official (PLEO) and At-Large Delegates

On April 27th, The certified district-level delegates will meet at a 10AM meeting to select the remaining 8 delegates, the convention standing committee members, and the Delegation Chair. Filing is open between April 15th at 9am to April 19th at 5pm. In order to be eligible to run as a PLEO Delegate, you must hold elected office in New Hampshire or hold a position within the New Hampshire Democratic Party. These positions include; county/town/local committee member, committee member of recognized constituency caucus, member of the NHDP State Committee, or Delegate to the 2024 NHDP State Convention.  For selection of At-Large and Alternate Delegates, priority of consideration shall be given to African Americans, Hispanics, Native Americans, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, youth, and LGBTQ+ Americans, if such priority of consideration is needed to fulfill the affirmative action goals outlined in the state’s Delegate Selection Plan. To continue the Democratic Party’s ongoing efforts to include groups historically under-represented in the Democratic Party’s affairs and to assist in the achievement of full participation by these groups, priority of consideration shall be given to other groups by virtue of race, sex, age, color, creed, national origin, religion, ethnic identify, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, economic status or disability.

 

Convention Standing Committee Members

New Hampshire has been allocated one (1) member on each of the three (3) standing committees for the 2024 Democratic National Convention (Credentials, Platform and Rules), for a total of three (3) members. (Call VII.A & Appendix D) Members of the Convention Standing Committees need not be delegates or alternates to the 2024 Democratic National Convention. (Call VII.A.3)
