CONCORD, NH — New Hampshire Republicans in the State Senate today passed extreme anti-LGBTQ+ legislation that, if signed into law, will bar trans girls from girls’ sports teams and forcibly out LGBTQ+ students to their parents. In response, NHDP Chair Ray Buckley released the following statement:
“For the past four years, New Hampshire Republicans have used their majority in the State Senate to push extreme legislation that dehumanizes and endangers LGBTQ+ youth, and today’s session was another glaring example of this despicable behavior. We heard from non-partisan leaders and health experts from across the state this week who urged Senate Republicans to abandon these bills that jeopardize the safety and well-being of some of our most vulnerable populations. Still, the NH GOP has made it clear they will stop at nothing to take away Granite Staters’ personal freedoms. This November, it’s critical that we elect Democrats to the State House who will protect the rights and safety of New Hampshire’s LGBTQ+ youth."
