In a desperate attempt to get campaign cash from Big Oil, all three Republican Senate candidates last week came out in staunch opposition to lowering the cost of gas for Granite Staters by eliminating the federal gas tax for the rest of the year. That wasn’t the only head-scratcher from the GOP candidates. Kevin Smith on Twitter last week repeated Russian propaganda and was exposed for his record of being a no-show state representative, and Don Bolduc was put on blast for paying for his biggest campaign endorsement. Read more takeaways from the "crazy,” “complicated,” “heated,” “hot mess,” New Hampshire Republican Senate Primary:
“Who's against lower gas prices, right?” Apparently, Chuck Morse, Kevin Smith, and Don Bolduc Are. NH Today co-host Justin McIsaac asked the question that many were wondering about after all three NH GOP Senate candidates last week publicly opposed Senator Hassan’s efforts to lower gas prices for Granite Staters by suspending the gas tax for the rest of the year in a stunt to get more campaign cash from Big Oil. The opposition to lowering gas prices was widely seen as a bad campaign move, given that “this opportunity to decrease taxes to […] help middle class working families is, to me, something that would seem to make a lot of sense.” Lowering costs for Granite State families doesn’t seem to make a lot of sense to Chuck Morse and Kevin Smith, who took to Twitter to make their opposition to lower gas prices known. Smith’s top political advisor even got into an all-out Twitter fight trying to “double and triple and quadruple down” on Smith’s bizarre position which likely comes from being desperate for a check from Big Oil. Don Bolduc, the other candidate in the “crazy” “complicated” and “messy” NH GOP Senate primary waited to announce that he too opposes lowering costs for Granite Staters at the pump, making it clear that the Republican Party “has established their entire brand about just being against things, not being for things.”
Smith Slammed for Being A No-Show State Representative and for Repeating Kremlin Talking Points. It was another brutal week for Kevin Smith who on Friday was called out for missing 61% of the floor votes in 1998 when he was a New Hampshire State Representative. Earlier on Twitter last week, Kevin Smith repeated Russian propaganda regarding Ukraine on Twitter, calling the country “the Ukraine” which according to the Ukraine Embassy is a form of Russian propaganda and a “Soviet-style clichè.” These are just the latest stumbles from Smith who recently was hit with an ethics complaint from residents of Londonderry for “politicking for the US Senate on taxpayer time,” and launched a website that plagiarized language from Texas Attorney General Paxton.
Bolduc Buys His Biggest Endorsement. A new report from the Daily Beast put Don Bolduc on blast for buying an endorsement from Michael Flynn. According to the report, “last October, Flynn endorsed GOP New Hampshire Senate aspirant Don Bolduc while headlining a Bolduc fundraiser. Federal filings show that a week later, the campaign paid Flynn’s company, Resilient Patriot LLC, a $5,209 ‘event speaking fee.’” The speaking fee came from Bolduc’s underwhelming Q4 FEC report.
