CONCORD, NH — In response to Chris Sununu’s endorsement of Nikki Haley, NHDP Chair Ray Buckley released the following statement:
“No matter how much Nikki Haley or Chris Sununu try to spin Granite Staters, the reality is they’re both MAGA extremists who spent years cozying up to Donald Trump. Both Sununu and Haley have signed extreme abortion bans with no exceptions for rape or incest, endorsed notorious election deniers like Don Bolduc, railed against crucial programs like the Affordable Care Act, and pushed tax cuts for the ultra rich that left working families behind. Let’s be absolutely clear: there’s nothing moderate, reasonable, or electable about their agenda.
“Granite Staters know the stakes in 2024, and no endorsement is going to save Haley from the massive rejection she’ll face in New Hampshire next year.”
Haley and Sununu each signed cruel abortion bans in their states. Now, Haley wants to take her abortion extremism nationwide, pledging to sign a national abortion ban if it landed on her desk.
Haley signed an abortion ban as South Carolina governor that had no exceptions for rape or incest and threatened doctors with jail time.
Haley has pledged several times on the campaign trail to sign a national abortion ban if passed by Congress and has repeatedly doubled down on her support for a national abortion ban. Most recently, Haley said that she would have signed a six-week abortion ban if it was brought to her desk.
Sununu signed New Hampshire’s first modern abortion ban — and then bragged about it.
Haley and Sununu have a history of campaigning for election deniers like Don Bolduc.
Haley promised that she wouldn’t campaign for election deniers — and then did in the 2022 midterms. She proudly campaigned for Don Bolduc, who endorsed her run for president
Sununu happily endorsed Bolduc when it was politically convenient — despite previously calling him a “conspiracy theorist-type candidate.”
Haley and Sununu oppose the Affordable Care Act and support ending Social Security and Medicare as we know it, which could rip health care away from thousands of Granite Staters.
Haley has a long record of proudly railing against the ACA, calling to DEFUND the program even though it’s a lifeline for thousands of Granite Staters.
Haley refused to expand Medicaid under the ACA in South Carolina, leaving her constituents uninsured and forced to pay exorbitant health care costs.
Haley and Sununu have both said they’d put Social Security and Medicare cuts on the table.
Sununu called to repeal the ACA and opposed expanding Medicaid.
Haley and Sununu supported Trump’s failed MAGAnomics agenda that rigged the economy for the ultra-rich and left working Granite Staters behind.
Haley regularly sided with corporations’ bottom lines over working people, and campaigned for governor in South Carolina on eliminating corporate income tax — a proposal that threatened to significantly reduce state revenues.
Haley praised Trump’s tax cuts and said she wants to make his tax cuts for the rich permanent.
Sununu praised Trump’s tax scam, calling them a “win.”
