NHDP Statement on Alderman-Elect Jim Burkush's Resounding Victory

CONCORD, NH – In response to Alderman-Elect Jim Burkush’s victory in Manchester’s 9th Ward last night, NHDP Chair Ray Buckley has released the following statement:

“Last night, Manchester Ward 9 resoundingly voted to elect Jim Burkush as their next Alderman to fill the seat of Alderman and State House Representative Barbara Shaw, who we lost in December. Jim has spent his life dedicated to the people of Manchester, and I know he will serve them well as their next Alderman. I want to congratulate him on his well deserved victory.

Once again, the Queen City has rejected Victoria Sullivan. She has a long record of harmful ideologies, as well as a long record of losing elections. In Ward 9, a ward she won in her last failed mayoral campaign last year, voters made their message loud and clear– they want a strong, responsible leader like Jim, and not an extremist like Victoria.

From our overwhelming victories last November, our three consecutive special election wins, and our sweep in last week’s Town Meeting Day, it is clear that Granite State Democrats are building the momentum that will carry us to victory in November and far beyond.”
