NHDP Calls on Matt Mowers to Disavow and Fire Corey Lewandowski

Today, Politico reported “a Donald Trump donor is accusing Corey Lewandowski, one of the former president’s longtime top aides, of making unwanted sexual advances toward her at a Las Vegas charity event over the weekend.” According to reports, four people who were first-hand witnesses at the event corroborated the allegations.

Lewandowski endorsed failed congressional candidate Matt Mowers in 2020 and is again backing Mowers this year, having a “higher profile and more direct role than in 2020” in Mowers’s operation. Mowers has long been effusive in praise for Lewnsdowki, saying in 2020 that he was “humbled” to receive his endorsement and proudly appeared beside Lewandowski on many occasions. In 2016, Lewandowski was charged with battery for allegedly grabbing a Breitbart reporter at a Trump event in Florida.

In response to Politico’s reporting, NHDP Chair Ray Buckley has released the following statement calling on Mowers to disavow Corey Lewandowski:

“The allegations against former Trump staffer and Mowers campaign senior advisor Corey Lewandowski are horrifying and Matt Mowers must disavow his former Trump Administration colleague immediately and remove him from any role in his campaign. Republicans in the First District primary will be courting endorsements from the fringes of the extreme right wing -- but these serious allegations and the past pattern of behavior surrounding Lewandowski make it clear that has no role to play in this race.”
