In case you missed it, this morning NHDP Chair Ray Buckley and DNC Committeewoman Senator Donna Soucy gathered for a virtual press conference to discuss Nikki Haley’s upcoming visit to New Hampshire and her abhorrent anti-choice and extremist record ahead of her visit to St. Anselm’s College tonight.
Watch the full press conference here.
NHDP Chair Ray Buckley:
“After spending years working for Donald Trump, singing his praises, and admitting she has no policy differences with him, Nikki Haley is trying to repackage her MAGA extremism in hopes New Hampshire voters forget who she is. Let’s be clear about Nikki Haley’s record — she’s as extreme as they come.”
…
“That’s the kind of person Nikki Haley wants to associate with, and New Hampshire voters will reject her extremism as well. In her town hall last night, she said that Florida’s horrific ‘Don’t Say Gay Bill’ doesn’t go far enough. Let me repeat that — she said that Florida’s ‘Don’t Say Gay Bill’ doesn’t go far enough. She doubled down on her support for cutting Medicare and Social Security. She couldn’t be more out of touch if she tried.
The NH GOP has made their affinity for far-right extremists like her clear, and just like they did last year, they’ll lose by staggering margins in 2024.”
Senate Democratic Leader Donna Soucy:
“[Nikki Haley] spent years working for Donald Trump and even longer pushing an extreme agenda as governor of South Carolina. As governor, she signed an abortion ban with no exceptions for rape or incest and threatened doctors with jail time for providing care for their patients — something Granite Staters are all too familiar with. She called the overturning of Roe v. Wade a “historic win” and has attacked states’ efforts to codify reproductive rights into their laws.”
….
“The right to choose is a core New Hampshire value, and it’s clear that Nikki Haley is completely out-of-touch with Granite Staters. Just like we did with her new friend Don Bolduc — the anti-choice and election-denying extremist — Granite Staters are going to reject Nikki Haley and any other anti-choice Republican that wins this messy primary.”
