ICYMI: Donald Trump Can’t Rewrite His Extreme, Anti-Choice Record

CONCORD, NH - Today, New Hampshire Democratic Party Chair Ray Buckley released the following statement regarding Donald Trump’s attempt yesterday to rewrite his record on abortion rights:

“Donald Trump has been clear: he is ‘proudly the person responsible’ for overturning Roe v. Wade, ushering in extreme abortion bans across the country that have put women’s lives at risk, threatened doctors with prosecution for doing their jobs, and jeopardized access to fertility treatments for families trying to get pregnant. Trump has repeatedly bragged about creating this cruelty and went as far as to say that women should be punished for seeking reproductive health care. These inhumane and draconian bans aren’t enough for him or his extreme MAGA allies. Now, they’re pushing a plan that would allow him to rip away access to reproductive care in every single state including New Hampshire, with or without the help of Congress. There is not a single thing Trump can say that changes the fact that he said he’d sign a national abortion ban if elected to a second term. With so much at stake this November, Granite Staters know that President Biden and Vice President Harris will continue to support the right to choose and protect freedoms in the Granite State.”

Trump has repeatedly boasted that he’s “killed” reproductive freedom, saying proudly, “I’m the one that got rid of Roe v. Wade.” He said he was “proud” to have terminated abortion rights and has long supported a nationwide abortion ban, even saying in a speech to his MAGA supporters that “there of course remains a vital role for the federal government in protecting unborn life. And it’s very important.”
