Do Leavitt, Huff Brown, Mowers, and Baxter Support Trump as Speaker After the Insurrection?

After the attack on the Capitol on January 6thwhich was incited by Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress– to overthrow the results of the 2020 elections, Republicans in Congress are calling for Trump to be made Speaker of the House. New Hampshire Democrats are calling on Republican Congressional Candidates in CD-01 to make clear to Granite Staters if they stand with the most extreme far-right elements of the Republican Party who wish to put Trump and his dangerous agenda in a position of power.

“After the deadly attack at the Capitol that Trump incited on January 6th, it’s clear that Trump does not value our democracy,” said NHDP Chair Ray Buckley. “Voters in New Hampshire's first Congressional district deserve to know if Gail Huff Brown, Karoline Leavitt, and Matt Mowers would support Trump, who supported a violent insurrection after losing a fair and free election, for Speaker of the House.”

Republicans in CD-01 have repeatedly expressed support for Donald Trump, even after the insurrection at the Capitol on January 6th. Gail Huff Brown has repeatedly expressed her support for Trump after the insurrection, stating that she will continue “defending Former President Trump’s policies. There is no question about loyalty.” Karoline Leavitt is a former Trump staffer, and has been endorsed by Ted Cruz and Madison Cawthorn, who have ties to the insurrection on January 6th. She continues to spread conspiracy theories about the 2020 election, falsely stating that Trump won the 2020 election. Matt Mowers is also a former Trump staffer, and was endorsed by Trump in his last failed Congressional race. He also spouted election conspiracy theories, saying he has “concerns, as many people do, with the way the 2020 election was administered around the country. You saw some election officials, who were – against their constitution, against their legislatures – single-handedly changing rules.” Tim Baxer has also shared election falsehoods, "President Donald J. Trump is right, it's time for an audit in every state” and refused to admit that President Biden was the winner of the 2020 election.
