After Sununu silence & GOP objection in 2017, NH Dems pass transgender equality bill on second try

Concord, N.H. - Today, New Hampshire Senate Democrats carried a bipartisan transgender rights bill across the finish line, with every Democrat in both chambers voting to move the bill forward. NHDP Chair Ray Buckley, a longtime LGBT advocate, testified in favor of the bill's passage during the House Judiciary Committee hearing. NHDP Chair Ray Buckley issued the following statement: "Today is a day of celebration in New Hampshire's LGBT community and across the state. Transgender equality is now codified in state law, telling transgender Granite Staters that it is okay to be who they are. Bills like this don't just change state law, they change opinions and allow people who have lived in fear of judgement or intolerance a renewed sense of freedom. It has been a long time coming, but this common sense decision by our legislature has made New Hampshire a better state for generations to come."
