Concord, N.H. - As big corporations continue to show that the special tax breaks they got as a result of the Republican tax bill won't benefit workers, Walmart announced today that the company would be closing 63 Sam's Club location across the country, including the Seabrook location in New Hampshire. This past summer, Walmart closed the doors to another Sam's Club location in Manchester, resulting in 129 jobs lost. Today's announcement means that 125 Granite Staters will lose their jobs in just two weeks time. Since Governor Sununu took office, Sam's Club has cut a total of 254 jobs in New Hampshire. NHDP Chair Ray Buckley issued the following statement: "Today's sad news means that 125 New Hampshire working families will suffer job losses in the next two weeks. While Republicans have continued to pump up their vastly unpopular tax cut bill that Governor Sununu strongly supported, we are already seeing that big corporations will simply pocket extra profits while workers are left out in the cold. In 2018, Sununu will have to answer for his support of a bill that is padding corporate profits at the expense of middle class families."
