NHDP Statement on the Respect For Marriage Act Being Signed into Law

CONCORD, NH — In response to President Biden signing the Respect for Marriage Act into law today, NHDP Chair Ray Buckley has released the following statement:

“I am beyond thankful for the work of our federal delegation for getting this bill over the finish line — Congressman Chris Pappas, the first openly gay federal representative of New Hampshire, for introducing the bill, and Senator Jeanne Shaheen, Senator Maggie Hassan, and Congresswoman Annie Kuster for fighting for its passage.

New Hampshire has always led the charge in the fight for equality. I couldn’t be more proud that our representatives in Washington are continuing that tradition and fighting for the rights of LGBTQ+ Granite Staters like me.”
