NHDP Statement on SCOTUS Mississippi Abortion Ban Hearing

In response to the Supreme Court hearing oral arguments on Mississippi’s abortion ban -- the most consequential case for abortion rights in recent history, which could overturn Roe v. Wade and open the door for New Hampshire Republicans to outright ban abortion, NHDP Senior Advisor Senator Melanie Levesque released the following statement:

“Today, the Supreme Court will hear oral arguments on a case that would gut Roe v. Wade and send reproductive rights back nearly 50 years to a dark and dangerous period in our nation’s history when back-alley abortions were the only option for many women. The relentless attacks by Republicans on abortion rights and reproductive health care are a painful reminder of how much is at stake in next year’s election.

“If given the chance, Chris Sununu and New Hampshire Republicans will continue to try and push even more extreme, anti-choice policies and abortion bans in New Hampshire, and Republicans running for Congress and Senate will continue to double down on their fringe, anti-choice platforms. This is why we must continue doing everything we can to elect Democrats up and down the ballot who will defend our reproductive rights and hold every single Republican accountable who will try to take them away.”
