NHDP Statement on Nikki Haley in New Hampshire

CONCORD, NH — As Nikki Haley travels to New Hampshire, NHDP Chair Ray Buckley released the following statement:

“On the heels of an endorsement from the Koch network — architects of Trump’s MAGAnomics agenda who have spent over a decade pushing to repeal the Affordable Care Act — Nikki Haley is returning to New Hampshire to undoubtedly spin her extreme plans that could rip away Granite Staters’ health care. After railing against the ACA as South Carolina governor, it’s shameful that Haley expects NH working families to believe that she’d do anything to defend and expand health care access. There’s a reason Granite Staters rejected her former boss twice, and we’ll do the same with Haley and her MAGA agenda come 2024.”

Here’s a reminder of Haley’s extreme health care record:

  • As South Carolina governor, Haley repeatedly stood against expansion of affordable health care:

    • Railed against the Affordable Care Act and refused to expand Medicaid under the ACA.

    • Refused to implement health insurance exchanges that would allow people to compare private insurance costs to the ACA marketplace, which would ensure they get the best health care at the lowest cost.

  • Following Donald Trump’s record, she’s tripled down on calls to cut Social Security and Medicare on the campaign trail. Her stance is no surprise, since she has a history of pushing to put these crucial programs on the chopping block.

  • She has repeatedly doubled down on her support for a national abortion ban, which would take away reproductive freedoms from thousands of Granite State women.

    • Haley also pledged several times on the campaign trail to sign a national abortion ban if passed by Congress.

    • In South Carolina, Haley proudly signed an abortion ban as governor which had no exceptions for rape or incest and threatened doctors with jail time. And she recently said that she would have signed a six-week abortion ban if it was brought to her desk.
