“Even though you’re starting the year off with another recruitment failure, we want you to enjoy your birthday knowing that all of us are working hard to earn your endorsement and the support of your corporate special interest backers."
To celebrate Mitch McConnell’s 80th birthday on Sunday, New Hampshire Democrats this week presented NH GOP Senate candidates Kevin Smith and Chuck Morse with a birthday card to sign for their close ally Mitch.
The card was a huge hit with Smith, who looked at Mitch’s face on the card and smiled adoringly but was quickly ushered away by his campaign staff. Morse was unavailable to sign the card, but given his fondness for Mitch, it’s likely he would have eagerly signed his name to wish his role model a Happy Birthday. Tomorrow, the card will go to Don Bolduc, the third NH GOP Senate candidate running in the “crazy” and “complicated” primary.
Both Smith and Morse have eagerly sought McConnell’s support since announcing their campaigns for US Senate. Smith flew to Washington, DC to meet with Rick Scott – McConnell’s top lieutenant – and the NRSC ahead of his campaign launch. Morse, who was recently singled out by McConnell, took a page out of Mitch McConnell’s playbook by hiring Jim Merrill, a former Chinese Communist Party-linked corporate lobbyist, to play a central role in his campaign. Smith and Morse have also stood in lockstep with McConnell’s corporate special interest agenda that includes ending Roe v. Wade, keeping prescription drug prices high, and defunding Planned Parenthood. You can read the text of the birthday card below: Happy 80th Birthday Senator Mitch McConnell! From all of the New Hampshire Republican Senate candidates, we wish you a very Happy Birthday. Even though you’re starting the year off with another recruitment failure, we want you to enjoy your birthday knowing that all of us are working hard to earn your endorsement and the support of your corporate special interests. As a special gift to you, we pledge to always be a rubber stamp for your obstructionist agenda that includes keeping prescription drug costs sky high, putting new restrictions on abortion, and doing the bidding of Big Pharma and Big Oil – even when it hurts New Hampshire! We’re looking forward to seeing you get even more involved in the NH GOP primary here — and no matter who wins in September, we all promise to always put you first, and the interests of Granite Staters last.
