Chuck Morse Ally Claps Back at Kevin Smith for Saying Morse Isn’t Anti-Choice Enough

The race to the bottom continues. This morning, one of Chuck Morse’s biggest allies hit back at Kevin Smith for repeatedly attacking Morse’s anti-choice record for not being extreme enough. State Senator and Majority Leader Jeb Bradley, who regularly boosts Morse’s campaign, joined Good Morning NH with Jack Heath and said that Kevin Smith “has done nothing and has no ability to comment on Planned Parenthood and this contract or anything else because he’s been totally ineffective.” Bradley added that “were it not for Chuck Morse, the provision that we have right now that bans abortion” “would not be law” and “it’s unfortunate that Kevin Smith has sunk to the gutter, basically, and undermined Chuck Morse’s 100 percent [anti-choice] voting record.” The irony is that both Smith and Morse have extreme, anti-choice records that put them deeply out of step with Granite State voters who live in one of the most pro-choice states in the country.

  • Morse supports defunding and has voted to defund Planned Parenthood. Morse bragged that he passed the first abortion ban in New Hampshire and said he “absolutely” wanted a stricter ban than the one he created which made no exceptions for rape, incest, or fatal fetal anomaly and included a mandatory ultrasound requirement and felony penalties for doctors when it was first signed into law last year.

  • As Smith’s campaign manager pointed out this week, Smith introduced an abortion ban that made no exceptions even to save the life of the mother when he was a state representative. More recently at an event in Brentwood this month, Smith said he would vote for a federal abortion ban — with or without exceptions — because “we shouldn't allow the good to be the enemy of the perfect.” During a campaign event in Nashua in June, Smith said he would support “any” legislation to restrict abortion in the US Senate.
