NHDP Releases 2020 Draft Delegate Selection Plan


Concord, N.H. - Today, the New Hampshire Democratic Party released its draft delegate selection plan for the 2020 Democratic National Convention. Following its publication, members of the public will have 30 days to issue comments before the full New Hampshire Democratic State Committee votes on the plan on April 14th at the New Hampshire Democratic Party headquarters at 1:00PM. This draft delegate selection plan includes specific programs designed to increase outreach and inclusion. These programs will educate and encourage members of historically underrepresented groups to participate in the delegate selection process. "We're proud to release our 2020 draft delegate selection plan, which will ensure that everyone has a seat at the table as we head into the most important election of our lifetime. This plan will codify the values that connect all Democrats, particularly our shared emphasis on inclusion and acceptance," said NHDP Chair Ray Buckley. At the 2020 Democratic National Convention, the New Hampshire Democratic Party will have 33 delegates and 2 alternates, with the delegates evenly divided between men and women. New Hampshire Democrats will also place an emphasis on diversity goals for African Americans, Latinx, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, LGBTQ+, people with disabilities, and young people. Delegates and alternates will be selected as follows: District-Level Delegates and Alternates: 16 positions Those interested must file a statement of candidacy designating his or her singular presidential preference and a signed pledge of support for the presidential candidate with the State Party at State Party Headquarters, 105 N. State St, Concord, NH. Filing deadline: Applications must be delivered by 5:00PM on January 10th, 2020. Delegates will be selected at Congressional District Caucuses on January 25th, 2020. Party Leader and Elected Officials: 3 positions Those interested must file a statement of candidacy designating his or her singular presidential preference and a signed pledge of support for the presidential candidate with the State Party at State Party Headquarters, 105 N. State St, Concord, NH. Filing deadline: Applications must be delivered by 5:00PM on April 17th, 2020. Delegates will be selected by the elected district-level delegates on April 25th, 2020 at NHDP Headquarters. At Large Delegates: 5 positions Those interested must file a statement of candidacy designating his or her singular presidential preference and a signed pledge of support for the presidential candidate with the State Party at State Party Headquarters, 105 N. State St, Concord, NH. Filing deadline: Applications must be delivered by 5:00PM on April 17th, 2020. Delegates will be selected by the elected district-level delegates on April 25th, 2020 at NHDP Headquarters. Automatic Delegates: 9 positions Members of the Congressional Delegation and members of the Democratic National Committee, who shall not have a vote on the 1st ballot.
