Chairman Buckley Statement on proposed amendment to add marijuana legalization to the NHDP Platform

Concord, N.H. - Over the course of the last few days, the Platform Committee within the New Hampshire Democratic Party has been debating an amendment to the NHDP platform that would support the legalization, taxation and regulation of marijuana in the state of New Hampshire. The Platform Committee has an opportunity to revisit the proposed platform amendment before the NHDP platform itself is released to the public on June 11th. Chairman Buckley joins both New Hampshire Democratic gubernatorial primary candidates Molly Kelly and Steve Marchand in supporting this position. NHDP Chair Ray Buckley issued the following statement: "I support including language in the New Hampshire Democratic Party platform to legalize, tax, and regulate marijuana in the state of New Hampshire. I am willing to co-sponsor an amendment to that end, and I would vote for a platform that includes such language at our state convention on June 23rd. With marijuana having been legalized in every bordering state, it makes sense for New Hampshire, the Live Free or Die state, to extend this right to our citizens as well."
