NH Senate Democrats Vote to Protect Health Care Coverage for Granite Staters

Concord, N.H. - Today, New Hampshire Senate Democrats passed legislation to protect health care coverage for Granite Staters covered by the Medicaid Expansion. SB 290-FN would end Governor Sununu's Medicaid work requirement immediately if more than 500 Granite Staters are forced out of the program. This vote comes in the wake of renewed efforts by Trump that would force tens of thousands of Granite Staters to lose their health care coverage that Sununu refuses to defend. Despite saying he recognizes the negative effect of Trump's recent efforts to strike down the Affordable Care Act, Sununu refuses to join the 21 states suing to protect the Affordable Care Act and people with pre-existing conditions. NHDP Chair Ray Buckley issued the following statement: "Today, New Hampshire Senate Democrats fought back against Trump and Sununu's draconian health care policies that could result in tens of thousands of Granite Staters losing their health care coverage. Democrats will never stop fighting to give Granite Staters the health care they deserve, but the last few days have made it clear that Trump and Sununu will stop at nothing in their attempts to threaten our health care protections."
