CONCORD, NH — Last night during his town hall at St. Anselm College, Donald Trump again bragged about being “honored” and “proud” to have helped overturn Roe v. Wade, paving the way for the national abortion ban Republicans are promising.
Trump’s comments last night are the latest in his years-long record of anti-abortion extremism. Here are a few key examples, in Trump’s own words:
On paving the way for extreme abortion bans: “Nobody has ever done more for Right to Life than Donald Trump. I put three Supreme Court justices, who all voted, and they got something that they’ve been fighting for 64 years, for many, many years.”
On backing a national abortion ban as president, which would have threatened doctors with prison: His administration “strongly supports.”
On signing a national abortion ban, when asked in NH last month: “We'll get something done where everyone is going to be very satisfied.”
On women who get abortions: “There has to be some form of punishment.”
