Far right FOX News host Sean Hannity is joining Mitch McConnell in begging Chris Sununu to run for US Senate to enable their far right agenda -- reinforcing that the national Sununu-wooing is about anything but New Hampshire. During a Fox News town hall last night in Nashville with other right-wing Governors, Sean Hannity fawned over Sununu, repeatedly calling him “Senator” and claiming that they had an “inside joke” that appeared to be about Sununu running for US Senate. Watch Hannity fawn over Sununu here and here.
Hannity is the latest out-of-state right-wing extremist to beg Sununu to jump into the race. Earlier this month, Politico reported that Mitch McConnell is pulling out all the stops to get Sununu to launch a campaign for Senate in 2022. McConnell -- who has pushed repeatedly to take away health care for Granite Staters with pre-existing conditions, gave tax cuts to big prescription drug companies, and obstructed COVID-19 relief for small businesses -- recently “personally lobbied” Sununu to run for Senate and believes Sununu would be “a great candidate.” Sununu is also facing pressure to run from McConnell ally Senator Rick Scott, who “even flew to meet personally with Sununu this spring.” Sununu had previously told Jack Heath in December that taking meetings with national Republicans about a Senate race amid the crises facing the state is “a disqualifier for the job, to be very blunt about it.”
