Statement from NHDP Chair Ray Buckley on Labor Day
Concord, N.H. - Today, marking Labor Day, New Hampshire Democratic Party Chair Ray Buckley issued the following statement:
“Support for American workers, working families, and the right to organize is central to the Democratic Party’s platform, and it’s central to our fight to ensure opportunity for all Granite Staters. The cause of the labor movement is the very foundation of values on which the Democratic party stands.
“This past June when the so-called “right-to-work” legislation made its way through the State House, Democrats stood together and made sure that bill failed. If passed, this legislation would have been terrible for New Hampshire workers. “Right-to-work” would have suppressed wages, lowered workplace safety, and reduced the quality of the public services we rely on in our communities. The stakes were incredibly high and Democrats rose to the occasion because of our unwavering commitment to the Labor movement.
“Democratic leadership that prioritizes and supports workers is absolutely necessary because Republicans here in the Granite State are consistently pushing anti-union, anti-worker legislation. While New Hampshire Republicans are committed to making life harder for Granite Staters, New Hampshire Democrats remain committed to standing up for workers and unions.
“Today, we proudly honor Granite State workers and unions who are committed to fighting for better wages, safer working conditions, quality, affordable health care, and the ability to retire with dignity. This fight has truly never been more critical.” Statement From NHDP Chair Ray Buckley On Labor Day
