RELEASE: Sununu Ducks Responsibility as His DOJ Attempts to Dismiss Civil Lawsuit Against..

Concord, N.H. -- Governor Chris Sununu is ducking responsibility as his Department of Justice moves to dismiss a civil lawsuit filed against the state over allegations of abuse at the Sununu Youth Development Center. According to the Associated Press, Sununu’s Department of Justice is trying to dismiss the civil case arguing that, “the lead plaintiff waited too long to come forward.” As reported by the Associated Press, Albert Scherr, a professor at the University of New Hampshire Franklin Pierce School of Law, believes the state’s decision under Governor Sununu to try to dismiss the case while pursuing a criminal investigation raises serious concerns regarding the transparency surrounding the Attorney General’s office and the investigation. “The allegations raised against the Sununu Youth Development Center need to be addressed immediately, and any attempts by Sununu’s Department of Justice to silence people who come forward raise serious concerns about the state’s ability to lead an impartial investigation under Sununu,” said New Hampshire Democratic Party Chair Ray Buckley. “After the horrific reports about the treatment of vulnerable children at the Sununu Youth Development Center, Granite Staters deserve to know what conversations Sununu had with the Attorney General's office and how involved he has been in the DOJ’s attempts to dismiss this case.”
