NHDP Statement the Second Anniversary of the January 6th Insurrection on the Capitol

CONCORD, NH — In response to the second anniversary of the January 6th Insurrection on the Capitol, NHDP Chair Ray Buckley released the following statement.

“Today marks two years since we watched in horror as agents of the disgraced Donald Trump attempted a violent overthrow of the 2020 election, taking the lives of Capitol police officers and putting members of Congress in mortal danger. The experience has irrevocably changed us as a nation, and the images from that day haunt us still.

“Through the meticulous work of the Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the Capitol, we have a clearer picture of how that day came to be, and a greater understanding than ever of who bears responsibility.

“It’s infuriating that today we see the very same lawmakers responsible for organizing that mob bringing chaos and disgrace to the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives. Their willingness to seek power by any means necessary and at any cost to the American people has only been empowered since that day.

“For that reason, today, we recommit ourselves to defending democracy from those who would seek to destroy it, and working to elect individuals committed to its protection.”
