NHDP Statement on Supreme Court Failing to Strike Down Extreme Abortion Ban in Texas

NHDP

Today, after the Supreme Court failed to act, a draconian six-week abortion ban went into effect in Texas that threatens Roe v. Wade and the future of reproductive freedom for all Americans. NHDP Senior Advisor Senator Melanie Levesque released the following statement: “This latest attack on reproductive health care is a pointed and painful reminder that Republican legislators from New Hampshire to Texas will continue to do everything that they can to prevent women from making their own health care choices. That’s why it could not be more important that we do everything we can to elect pro-choice champions up and down the ballot in 2022 who will fight for access to all reproductive health care services. “We must elect Democrats to the State House who will fight for the rights of Granite Staters to make their own health care choices after Chris Sununu and the New Hampshire Republican Party passed a cruel and extreme abortion ban that includes felony penalties against doctors who deliver these services. This year, we must re-elect Senator Hassan, Congresswoman Kuster, and Congressman Pappas, who will fight for the rights of Granite Staters in Washington as Mitch McConnell and Washington Republican legislators try to end reproductive rights at the federal level. And we must hold every single Republican politician who has tried to rip away health care coverage for New Hampshire women and families accountable— from Chris Sununu to Chuck Morse to Sherman Packard. “2022 will be the most consequential election for the future of reproductive health care which is why New Hampshire Democrats will do everything we can to fight for the rights of Granite Staters.”
