NHDP Statement on Sununu’s Refusal to Take Action and Protect Reproductive Rights

CONCORD, NH — Yesterday, Governor Chris Sununu refused to heed the call of state House Democrats to open a special legislative session to protect reproductive rights here in New Hampshire. In response, NHDP Chair Ray Buckley has released the following statement:

“Chris Sununu said that going into a special legislative session to protect abortion access isn’t necessary. Well, he also said that he signed an ‘abortion ban’ and that he's ‘done more on the pro-life issue than anyone.’ He refused to commit to not signing any more abortion restrictions into law through future budgets and has continuously cowered to the NH GOP’s extreme anti-choice agenda, yet he expects Granite Staters to believe him when he says he’ll protect reproductive health care here in New Hampshire. We cannot trust a word he says.”
