Concord, N.H. -- A report filed with the Secretary of State’s office shows that Governor Chris Sununu would benefit financially from his proposal to cut funding for child protective services, public schools, higher education, and small businesses, all while increasing property taxes, to pay for cutting the Business Enterprise Tax in his state budget. In response, New Hampshire Democratic Party Chair Ray Buckley released the following statement:
“Governor Sununu proposed a budget that makes cuts to key programs that have been extremely beneficial to Granite Staters during the pandemic, like the Small Business Development Program, Child Protective Services, and Child Care Scholarships -- while he gets a tax break. The state budget should be about helping Granite Staters -- not the Governor and his self-interests. I am deeply concerned by this new information, and urge the legislature to continue to do everything they can to pass a budget that works for the people of New Hampshire.”
