NHDP Statement on Mike Pence’s Trip to New Hampshire

CONCORD, NH — Ahead of Mike Pence’s events in New Hampshire this week, NHDP Chair Ray Buckley released the following statement:

“Mike Pence travels to New Hampshire as he continues to ramp up his anti-choice extremism, most recently calling for legislation that would force women to give birth even when their pregnancy isn’t viable. Pence has shown us over and over that his commitment to embracing the most extreme MAGA agenda possible and pushing the disastrous Trump-Pence administration’s record even further knows no bounds — and he’s happily dragging the entire 2024 GOP field to the far right with him in the process.”

Here’s a reminder of Mike Pence’s extreme MAGA agenda:

  • Mike Pence called for legislation that would force women to give birth even when their pregnancy isn’t viable. He has also said abortion pills should be banned and called on Congress to pass legislation that could pave the way to banning some forms of birth control.

  • After the conservative Supreme Court justices appointed by the Trump-Pence administration overturned Roe v. Wade, Pence was the first Republican to call for a national abortion ban. Pence says appointing those justices was the “greatest accomplishment” of the administration.

  • As Trump’s vice president, Pence helped oversee the worst jobs record since the Great Depression. He’s called to make permanent the Trump-Pence policies that provided tax giveaways to the wealthiest Americans and corporations while shipping American jobs overseas.

  • He backs cuts to Medicare and Social Security, which could impact thousands of Granite Staters who rely on these crucial programs to get health care and make ends meet.

  • Pence led the Trump administration’s charge to repeal the Affordable Care Act – including its protections for people with preexisting conditions – calling it their “first order of business.”

  • In his naked chase for power, Pence campaigned alongside election-denying candidates in 2022, including failed New Hampshire Senate candidate Don Bolduc, who wanted to overturn the results of an election that 81 million Americans voted for.

  • As governor of Indiana, Pence signed one of the most discriminatory pieces of anti-LGBTQ legislation in the country. He has also railed against marriage equality throughout his career.
