Today, Free State extremist Bruce Fenton announced that he is running for the US Senate. Fenton is the latest candidate to enter the race — but his campaign website does not make clear if he is running as a Republican or independent.
In response to the announcement, NHDP Chair Ray Buckley released the following statement:
“Bruce Fenton is a Free State extremist whose candidacy is the latest sign that there is deep dissatisfaction with the three unknown and disliked candidates already challenging Senator Hassan. Fenton’s campaign will only make what was already an uphill effort to flip this Senate seat red even more challenging.”
Fenton joins Chuck Morse, Kevin Smith, and Don Bolduc in challenging Senator Hassan. All three candidates running in the Republican primary have struggled to fill the “vacuum” in which “a viable GOP candidate has yet to emerge,” and they have failed to break through with NH voters.
