In case you missed it, Congressman Chris Pappas, along with his fellow Congressional LGBTQ+ Equality Caucus Co-Chairs, introduced legislation to ensure strong federal protections for marriage equality and enshrine marriage equality into federal law, even in the event that Obergefell v. Hodges is overturned by the US Supreme Court.
In response, NHDP Chair Ray Buckley released the following statement:
“Until recently, I have always been confident that our right to marry was here to stay. Justice Clarence Thomas’s comments regarding Obergefell v. Hodges — the case that legalized gay marriage nationwide — are frightening to say the least. Congressman Pappas’s leadership in the fight to ensure that our country does not go backward on fundamental equality is just another example of his commitment to LGBTQ+ Granite Staters and the LGBTQ+ community nationwide.
What happens this November can be the difference between keeping the right to same sex marriage or having it stripped away from us. We must re-elect Congressman Pappas and elect Democrats up and down the ballot who will protect marriage equality.”
