NHDP Statement on Chris Christie’s Visit to New Hampshire

CONCORD, NH — Today, NHDP Chair Ray Buckley released the following statement on Chris Christie’s town hall at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics this evening: “Chris Christie goes wherever the political winds blow him, so it’s no surprise that he’s joining 2024 GOP hopefuls flocking to New Hampshire to test the waters in his quest for power. No matter how hard Christie might try to rewrite history, nothing can change his track record of championing Donald Trump’s MAGA agenda and repeatedly using his political career for his personal gain.”

Here’s a snapshot of Chris Christie’s extreme MAGA record:

• As governor, Christie supported an abortion ban and cut millions in funding for women’s health services, then worked to coordinate efforts on restricting abortion in every state after the overturning of Roe.

• He supported repealing the ACA, which could kick thousands of Granite Staters off of their health insurance and end protections for those with preexisting conditions.

• He called for cuts to “all types” of crucial programs like Medicare and Social Security, putting him on the wrong side of seniors and in step with his old boss Donald Trump and other 2024 GOP hopefuls.

• Christie proposed tax cuts that would have overwhelmingly benefited the wealthy and corporations, which economists said “would likely end up hurting the middle class.”
