CONCORD, NH —Today, New Hampshire Democratic Party Chairman Ray Buckley announced the expansion of the party’s communications operation, welcoming two seasoned senior staff members to the team. Ty McEachern will serve as Communications Director, and Gates MacPherson will rejoin the NHDP as a Senior Advisor to oversee messaging for state races.
“Ty and Gates bring extraordinary experienced communications and political expertise to the NHDP, and we are thrilled to have them on our team,” said NHDP Chair Ray Buckley. “Once again, New Hampshire is a top battleground state with extremely competitive races for president, both congressional districts, the open governor's race, and the state legislative majorities. We have a historic opportunity to elect Democrats at every level this year, and having a professional, robust communications program is key to winning in November."
McEachern joins the NHDP after a year on the Hill in Washington, DC, where he served as Press Secretary to New Hampshire’s senior U.S. Senator, Jeanne Shaheen. McEachern has worked across the country, serving in senior communications roles on campaigns for U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), Congressman Jeff Jackson (D-NC), and with the North Carolina Democratic Party. McEachern began his career working on state and local campaigns in his home state of Massachusetts and is also an alum of Congressman Seth Moulton’s 2018 campaign.
MacPherson returns to the NHDP after working at SKDK, an award-winning public affairs and political consulting firm specializing in strategic communications for Fortune 500 companies, non-profits, philanthropic organizations, labor unions, and political committees and candidates. From 2019 to 2022, MacPherson served in various communications roles at the NHDP, leading grassroots communications efforts for Democrats at all levels and, most recently, working to re-elect Senator Maggie Hassan.
