Concord, N.H. -- Tomorrow, on September 15th, thousands of families with children across the Granite State will receive their third monthly Child Tax Credit payment as part of the American Rescue Plan. 87% of Granite State families are eligible to receive this tax cut, and this year, families in New Hampshire have on average received a tax cut of $4,380, with monthly payments of up to $300 per child. This has been life changing for the families of 222,000 Granite State children. Despite its overwhelming benefit to New Hampshire families, Chris Sununu made clear that if he was in the Senate, he “would be a no vote” and would have sided with Mitch McConnell and Washington Republicans to block this much-needed relief for New Hampshire.
In response to the third round of Child Tax Credit payments landing in Granite State families’ bank accounts, NHDP Chair Ray Buckley released the following statement:
“While Democrats like Senator Shaheen, Senator Hassan, Congresswoman Kuster, and Congressman Pappas are cutting taxes for middle class families and building an economy that works for everyone, Chris Sununu in February made it clear that he would side with Mitch McConnell over the people of New Hampshire in opposing the American Rescue Plan and with it, these common sense tax cuts. If it were up to Governor Sununu, New Hampshire families wouldn’t be able to get these critical tax cuts which will help pay for expenses they need -- like child care and health care.”
