MANCHESTER, NH — This weekend, Republican candidate for Congress Karoline Leavitt was on WMUR’s CloseUp, where she reiterated her support for privatizing Social Security, risking the benefits New Hampshire seniors have paid into their whole lives.

When asked if she still plans on writing the legislation to privatize Social Security, Karoline answered with a resounding “Yes.”

In response, NHDP Chair Ray Buckley released the following statement:

“Over 300,000 people rely on Social Security in New Hampshire, and Karoline Leavitt wants to take our hard-earned benefits and let companies gamble it on the stock market. Her proposal would devastate Granite State seniors both now and in the future, and the fact she would present such an idea shows she is about out-of-touch with Granite Staters as it gets.

Voters in our First Congressional District know that Karoline Leavitt is wrong for New Hampshire, and they’re going to choose to send Congressman Chris Pappas, a champion for New Hampshire’s seniors, back to Washington.”
