In Another Sign of Democratic Momentum, Extremists Shut Out in Franklin Elections

FRANKLIN, NH — Last night, residents of Franklin overwhelmingly defeated a slate of far-right MAGA extremists in city elections for offices like School Board and City Council.

Extremists running for offices on the City Council and School Board like Dave Testerman — who infamously introduced legislation in support of conversion therapy for minors and sponsored a 6-week abortion ban — were resoundingly defeated.

Just this year, Democrats swept races in towns all over the state, defeating far-right extremist candidates and harmful warrant articles that attempted to undermine our democracy in every single town.

In response, NHDP Chair Ray Buckley released the following statement:

“Granite Staters have made clear again and again that they want nothing to do with far-right extremists at any level of New Hampshire government. From last year’s three consecutive special election victories, last November’s municipal elections, to this year’s Town Meeting Day elections and yesterday’s overwhelming victories in Franklin, Granite State Democrats from all over are proving that our strong, responsible candidates are the leaders that voters want.

We’re putting in the work, talking to voters where they’re at and about the issues that matter to them. We’re continuing to build the momentum that is going to lead us to victory this November and far, far beyond.

Congratulations to the Democrats in Franklin last night! Your victories were hard fought and well earned.”
