In case you missed it, the Union Leader published an op-ed Friday from House Municipal and County Government Chair Len Turcotte (R-Barrington) essentially giving up on improving the housing crisis in New Hampshire.
In his writing, Rep. Turcotte advocates for a “laissez-faire” approach to the current housing crisis, suggesting that state government should do nothing to solve the problem. He ignores all leading indicators that New Hampshire’s current housing crisis is worsening, and is currently the top economic concern among Granite Staters.
In response to the op-ed, NHDP Chair Ray Buckley released the following statement,
“The voters didn’t elect Len Turcotte to be laissez-faire about the most important problem facing our state today. The prevailing attitude by Republican leaders that the crisis around housing supply, costs and affordability is going to fix itself is exactly what’s driving this crisis in the first place.
“Granite Staters have made clear that housing access and affordability is their top concern. We need leaders in the House that solve problems, not writing manifestos about why they won't even try.”
