HuffPost reported today that, at an event with supporters in Auburn this week, Don Bolduc said that “as a man,” he thinks that the future of abortion rights in New Hampshire “belongs to these gentlemen right here who are state legislators representing you.” One of the Republican state legislators in the audience was Jess Edwards — he proposed an even more restrictive ban on abortion in New Hampshire this year.
Bolduc also said Senator Hassan needs to “get on board” with the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, which has opened the door for Republicans to pass a nationwide abortion ban and allowed states across the country to ban abortion outright.
This is the latest anti-choice outburst from Don Bolduc, who last month said that women worried about Republicans pushing a nationwide abortion ban need to “get over it.”
“Don Bolduc just made it clear that he thinks ‘gentlemen’ politicians should be the ones making women’s most personal medical decisions for them,” said NHDP spokesperson Gates MacPherson. “Women in New Hampshire are the ones who know what’s best for them, and for their families. Not 'gentlemen' legislators and certainly not Don Bolduc.”
