Does Hansel Believe That Total Abortion Bans Belong “Firmly With the States?”

CONCORD, NH — Yesterday, the Department of Justice filed a lawsuit against the state of Idaho, arguing that their abortion ban violates federal law. Idaho now bans all abortions, with exceptions only in the most extenuating of circumstances.

George Hansel, Republican candidate for Congress in NH-02, stated that abortion access should lie “firmly with the states” and that he would not support any federal protections for reproductive rights.

In response, NHDP spokesperson Monica Venzke released the following statement:

“George Hansel has made his anti-choice agenda crystal clear no matter how hard he tries to hide it.

With states like Idaho banning abortion all together, Granite Staters deserve to know — does Hansel believe that states should be able to completely strip women of their right to choose, like in Idaho? Does he believe that the rights of women should vary based on what state they live in?”
