Do 2024 Republicans Support NH GOP’s 15-Day Abortion Ban?

CONCORD, NH — Today, the New Hampshire state House will hold a hearing on the NH GOP’s proposed legislation to ban abortion at 15 days with no exceptions for rape or incest — making it one of the most cruel bans in the country if passed. Make no mistake: The passage of this extreme bill would only be possible because of Donald Trump.

Republicans like Trump, Nikki Haley, and Ron DeSantis are running on banning abortion nationwide but have stayed SILENT on this bill. As they campaign across the state, Granite Staters deserve to know: If this 15-day ban landed on their desk, would they sign it?

Donald Trump endorsed a national abortion ban and has bragged to Granite Staters about appointing the Supreme Court justices who overturned Roe v. Wade.

  • On the anniversary of the overturning of Roe v. Wade, Trump endorsed an extreme national abortion ban.

  • Trump’s administration backed a national abortion ban, and Trump even called for punishing women for having an abortion.

  • Trump himself proudly said he “was able to kill Roe v. Wade” — even insisting “there would be no [six-week ban]” without him.

  • He's repeatedly bragged that “nobody has ever done more” than him to pave the way for ripping away women’s freedom to make their own health care decisions.

Nikki Haley pledged to sign a national abortion ban and signed an extreme abortion ban with no exceptions for rape or incest as governor of South Carolina.

  • Haley has pledged several times on the campaign trail to sign a national abortion ban if passed by Congress.

  • Haley even said that she would have signed a six-week abortion ban as governor if it was brought to her desk.

  • In South Carolina, Haley proudly backed legislation that took away access to reproductive health care:

  • Signed an abortion ban as governor that had no exceptions for rape or incest and threatened doctors with jail time.

  • Backed a complete abortion ban as a state legislator with no exceptions for rape, incest, or to save the mother’s life.

  • Voted to end abortion coverage for victims of rape and incest in the state health plan for employees.

Ron DeSantis pledged to sign a national ban and signed into law cruel abortion bans in Florida.

  • DeSantis signed one of the most cruel abortion bans in the country last year, which bans abortion in Florida before many women know they’re pregnant and threatens to throw doctors in jail.

  • It’s no surprise that throughout his campaign, DeSantis has only doubled down on his support for a national abortion ban.

  • Opened the door to banning abortion nationwide less than an hour into his campaign.

  • Said he’d sign a national abortion ban if it landed on his desk.

  • Praised Iowa governor Kim Reynolds’ six-week abortion ban.
