Chairman Buckley’s Statement on the Passing of Honorable Rep. Douglas Ley

Concord, N.H - This morning, New Hampshire learned of the passing of the Honorable, Rep. Douglas Ley (D-Jaffrey). Representative Ley served as House Majority Leader from 2019 to 2020 and was a five-term Representative. Representative Ley was President of New Hampshire’s American Federation of Teachers for several years and lived in Jaffery, New Hampshire.

In response to his passing, NHDP Chair Ray Buckley released the following statement:

“I am deeply saddened by the news of Representative Doug Ley’s passing. Representative Ley will be remembered as a true public servant and champion for New Hampshire’s working families. He will also be remembered for his kindness, sense of humor, leadership, and most importantly his ability to bring people together. As a teacher, union leader, and legislator Doug was a friend and mentor to so many Granite Staters. Representative Ley will be missed dearly, and I extend my sincere condolences to his family.”
