Burns Is Already Trying To Backpedal His Extreme Abortion Stance

CONCORD, NH — Bob Burns, the extreme Republican nominee for Congress in New Hampshire’s Second District, didn’t waste any time trying to backtrack his extreme, anti-abortion position. Less than 24 hours after the primary election, Burns told WMUR that he supports a fetal heartbeat ban, claiming that the legislation would ban abortion access after 12 weeks.

This is a lie. The fetal heart ban that Burns supports — which has no scientific or medical backing — bans abortion at only six weeks.

In response to this blatant attempt to lie to Granite State voters, NHDP spokesperson Monica Venzke released the following statement:

“Bob Burns is pulling another page out of the GOP’s dirty election playbook and is trying to lie to Granite State voters. During the primary election, while he was trying to court the far-right, Burns made clear that he would vote for a fetal heartbeat bill and ban abortion, with no exception for rape, incest, or the life of the mother, at six weeks. New Hampshire voters will not be fooled by his lies, and they will vote to send Annie Kuster, a true champion for medical privacy and freedom, back to Congress this November.”
