MANCHESTER, NH — In tonight’s final WMUR Granite State Debate, extreme, far-right Republican Bob Burns showed just how out-of-touch he is with New Hampshire voters.
Bob Burns has repeatedly expressed support for a nationwide abortion ban in addition to his mandatory abortion “death panels” idea, which would force women to see a panel of doctors to decide whether or not they should be allowed to get an abortion to save their lives. He supports cuts to LIHEAP, which more than 140,000 Granite Staters qualify for and rely on. He is a Trump loyalist, and recently secured the disgraced former president’s endorsement. He is opposed to any and all common-sense gun legislation. He has compared labor unions to the mafia. Tonight, he even stated his opposition to legislation to protect marriage equality federally and codify Obergefell v. Hodges. Bob Burns is too extreme for New Hampshire, and his debate “answers” tonight proved that.
In response, NHDP Chair Ray Buckley released the following statement:
“Bob Burns is a far-right, anti-choice MAGA extremist whose values are far out-of-touch with those of New Hampshire voters. From his abortion ‘death panels’ to his support of cutting the key programs Granite Staters rely on, he has made it perfectly clear that he is wrong for New Hampshire.
Congresswoman Annie Kuster is fighting to cut costs, keep our families safe, and protect the personal freedoms of Granite Staters. Bob Burns is fighting to ban abortion, undermine our democracy, and skyrocket our cost of living. The choice is obvious.”
