Ahead of Don Jr. Fundraiser with Matt Mowers, NH Dems Slam Trump’s Incompetent Pandemic Response
Ahead of Donald Trump, Jr.’s virtual fundraiser with Matt Mowers today, New Hampshire Democratic Party Chair Raymond Buckley released the following statement: “Donald Trump’s incompetent pandemic response has hurt New Hampshire at every turn, costing us hundreds of lives and tens of thousands of jobs. We don’t need another one of his talking heads holding another fundraiser — we need tests, we need personal protective equipment, and we need a plan to safely reopen our schools. “Above all, we need leaders who will put Granite Staters’ health and livelihoods before their own political interests. Matt Mowers has made clear his loyalty is strictly to Donald Trump and not Granite Staters. "We can’t afford another day of this chaos. This November, we’re going to put Trump’s failed presidency to an end, send Joe Biden to the White House, and return Chris Pappas to Congress.” BACKGROUND ON TRUMP’S FAILED PANDEMIC RESPONSE Promise: "We have it totally under control. It's one person coming in from China. We have it under control. It's going to be just fine." [CNBC Interview, 1/22/20]
Reality: After Trump wasted time ignoring his own advisors and downplaying the coronavirus pandemic, the United States leads the world with more than 4.2 million cases and 145,000 deaths.
Promise: “We are marshalling the full power of the federal government and the private sector to protect the American people.” [Oval Office Address, 3/11/20]
Reality: Even in the midst of a global pandemic, Trump and the Republican Party are attempting to overturn the Affordable Care Act — endangering health coverage for 89,000 Granite Staters and threatening protections for as many as 597,000 Granite Staters with preexisting conditions.
Reality: Trump’s testing “strategy” only aims to provide tests for 2% of Granite Staters. And even as experts warned of a coming pandemic, Trump sent record shipments of N95 masks overseas.
