Concord, N.H. - Today, Governor Chris Sununu is hitting the conservative media circuit in New York City while Senate Democrats are sending him legislation to establish paid family and medical leave insurance for everyone in New Hampshire.
Paid family and medical leave is important to the people of New Hampshie. That explains why Governor Sununu lied on the campaign trail and said he would establish a paid leave program after catching flak for killing a previous effort to establish one in the state. Sununu's eventual proposal was half-baked, however, and its viability has been questioned widely. Despite this, Sununu has promised to veto paid leave.
NHDP Chair Ray Buckley released the following statement in response:
"If Sununu cared about creating paid family and medical leave then he would have agreed to work with legislators as they crafted their paid leave legislation, instead of spending the day promoting himself on conservative media. Selfish Sununu lied to Granite Staters by promising to establish a program on the campaign trail, and now that it's time to act he is out-of-state, leaving New Hampshire families behind."
