Concord, N.H. - Today, a UNH poll showed that New Hampshire's Democratically-controlled state legislature enjoys an approval rating of 61%, the highest approval rating the state legislature has ever received since the question was first asked in 2011.
This approval rating marks a 12-point increase from the Republican-controlled state legislature, which only had a 49% approval rating right before the 2018 midterms when Democrats took control of the Executive Council, State Senate, and State House, making Governor Sununu the first Republican Governor entirely surrounded by Democratic majorities in New Hampshire's history.
NHDP Chair Ray Buckley issued the following statement:
"Granite Staters are thrilled with the responsive, transparent, and effective governing of New Hampshire's Democratic majorities in the state legislature! Under the exemplary leadership of House Speaker Steve Shurtleff and Senate President Donna Soucy, our state legislatures are hard at work representing Granite Staters and clearly the results speak for themselves. From passing Paid Family and Medical Leave, to improving NH schools, to fighting to lower taxes for people, not corporations, our Democratic majorities are delivering on their campaign promise to give all Granite Staters the opportunity to succeed."
