Concord, N.H. - Today, Chris Sununu’s budget address laid out a policy platform that underfunded multiple key priorities and continued to cater to wealthy corporations at the expense of hard-working Granite Staters. In response, NHDP Chair Ray Buckley issued the following statement: “It was clear to anyone watching his address today that Governor Sununu had been traveling last week instead of working on the state budget. His half baked budget proposal was long on partisan rhetoric and short on details or innovation. His budget underfunded DCYF staffing, failed to address the student debt crisis, didn’t address the need to increase Medicaid reimbursement rates, cut legal aid funding, failed to provide any property tax relief, and he didn't even mention transportation or infrastructure once. “In contrast to Sununu’s last-minute, cobbled-together budget address, Democratic majorities in the State House and State Senate have already been working for months to deliver on their promise to give all Granite Staters the opportunity to succeed. “It’s good to see Sununu finally wake up and remember he has a responsibility to the people of New Hampshire, but at this point, it’s probably best he takes a backseat to the impressive and thorough agenda Democrats have already begun to implement.”
