Lewandowski’s invitation to headline fundraiser a sign of GOP’s decline
Concord, NH - New Hampshire Democratic Party Chair Ray Buckley issued the following statement regarding Steve Negron’s fundraiser with Corey Lewandowski on Sunday:
“Steve Negron is now apparently so desperate for fundraising in his floundering attempt to challenge Congresswoman Annie Kuster that he’s turning to Corey Lewandowski for help.
“Corey Lewandowski somehow managed to get fired for being too much of a hothead for even the Trump campaign. Since then, he has been held in contempt of court for ignoring a court order in a property lawsuit that he himself filed against his neighbors. He also refused to apologize for mockingly saying “womp womp” on Fox News about a 10-year old girl living with Down Syndrome who was separated from her mother and detained under the Trump Administration’s family separation policy.
“Lewandowski is currently working on behalf of Mike Pence’s PAC, Great America Committee, and it’s no surprise that Pence and Lewandowski are supporting Steve Negron. Negron has stubbornly defended his support for the widely discredited practice of gay conversion therapy, which Pence famously advocated for throughout his career.
“It shows how far the Republican party has fallen that Corey Lewandowski is considered one of their big ticket headliners. Steve Negron should cancel this fundraiser and denounce Lewandowski’s heinous comments and every aspect of Trump’s family separation policy.”
