Negron loses NHPR debate to Annie Kuster in spectacular fashion: denies climate change and more

Concord, NH - In a debate today with Congresswoman Annie Kuster at New Hampshire Public Radio, State Representative Steve Negron demonstrated why he is unfit to represent the people of New Hampshire’s second district in Congress.

Steve Negron restated his desire to outlaw all abortions without exception, even in the case of rape, incest, or when the life of the mother is at risk. He also defended his vote in favor of forced conversion therapy and denied climate change.

Negron has also made clear that he believes the federal government should have absolutely no role in health care. He wants to end protections that stop insurance companies from denying coverage to people with pre-existing conditions, and he voted against reauthorizing Medicaid expansion, which has bolstered New Hampshire’s response to the opioid crisis.

NHDP Chairman Ray Buckley issued the following statement:

“Steve Negron has promised to be another stubbornly partisan cog in the Washington machine, a stark contrast to Annie Kuster’s common-sense approach that gets results. His extreme positions, like opposing a woman’s right to choose, refusing to acknowledge the science of climate change, and supporting forced conversion therapy for minors, are out of step with the people of New Hampshire.

“Negron still somehow thinks that homosexuality is a choice and that LGBTQ teenagers are ‘confused’ and need ‘treatment.’ No one with this close-minded, exclusionary attitude should represent the Granite State.

“New Hampshire’s second district wants a representative in Congress who can work across party lines to get results. I know that because they’ve elected Congresswoman Annie Kuster three times, and it’s why they’re going to re-elect her again on November 6th.”
